Htpnet: a New Transport Protocol for High-speed Networks

چکیده
The quantum increase in transmission speed of optical bre networks has created a bottleneck in transport protocol processing at host systems In this paper we present a new transport protocol system HTPNET that is designed to overcome this protocol processing bottleneck HTPNET is based on a highly parallel architecture and is designed to exploit the evolving char acteristics of high speed networks HTPNET uses an out of band signalling system based upon transmitter paced periodic exchanges of state information between end systems This mechanism exhibits several attractive properties which have been demonstrated to perform e ciently in a high speed envi ronment with high bandwidth delay product A prototype implementation of HTPNET has been constructed from a network of T transputers The results obtained from this implementation are presented these demonstrate the advantages of exploiting a parallel architecture for protocol processing E mail chants spectrum cs unsw oz au iango spectrum cs unsw oz au

متن کاملPATROCLOS: a flexible and high-performance transport subsystem
Increasing application demands together with the modern network technology towards gigabit speeds require new adequate transport systems. The transport subsystem PATROCLOS (parallel transport subsystem for cell based high speed networks) is based on a modular protocol architecture with a high degree of inherent parallelism. The primary goal of PATROCLOS was to allow efficient implementations of...
متن کاملEvaluation of a BIBD Based Directional MAC Protocol for Wireless Ad Hoc Networks
The use of directional antennas in wireless ad hoc networks can significantly improve global performance due to a high spatial channel reuse. Nevertheless, its introduction poses new location dependent problems related to the MAC protocol. In this paper, the Balanced Incomplete Block Design theory has been exploited to develop a new MAC protocol for wireless ad hoc networks using directional ant...
